Stem length in relation to better breathing?

I have 2 stems for my road bike and I am not certain which one to use. One is a 90mm stem and the other is a 110 mm stem.
I've tried both on the bike and I'm not sure which one feels more comfortable...

The shorter 90mm stem feels like I can control the bike more and makes it feel a bit more lively because the center of the handlebar feels closer to the rotation axis than the 110mm.

The 110 mm stem makes me reach forward more especially on the aero. Is this desirable? I'm not sure whether reaching forward more helps or hinders my breathing and vice versa, whether the shorter stem is better/worse for breathing...

What I have learned is that your elbows should be a right angle when on aero bars. Your upper arm perpendicular to the ground, and your shoulders lined up right over your elbows.

I'm not sure on the breathing part though (and I've only ever used one stem), but thought this might help you figure out which fits you better. However, this can also be adjusted for a longer/shorter stem by moving your seat forward/back.

The only effect on your breathing should be the width between the aerobars. Stem length effects your control.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
