Yes you are crazy.....otherwise you wouldn't be on this site. Goodluck!! I considered that one but it didn't work out on my work schedule. Ended up picking Birmingham Al. Mercedes marathon Feb12. I think that's crazy. I think yours has a little more...flare or romance to it. I hope you let us know how it went.
I am with the others Tamara...Why Not???
Go...enjoy yourself, live the moment....and have lots and lots of fun..

I read that article this weekend too. I think you will have fun no matter how much you walk it. The scenery alone will make the time fly by. Good luck. :)

So, am I crazy? This is the question I keep asking myself today. Last night, sitting in front of the fire with a dog in my lap, I was reading the new issue of Runner's World and came across the article about the Mardi Gras marathon race director saying that the race is going ahead this year. For some reason, it touched me and I said to my husband "So, what would you think if I flew to New Orleans and did the marathon in 4wks". His response, wonderful husband as ever(!), was "why not". I said "it's crazy". My stepson said "yep, but so what". I called my cousin, who just returned to New Orleans this week to continue her second year of law school at Tulane, and asked if she wanted company. Her immediate response was "no pressure, but I'm really excited that you might come down here. We want people to visit."
It's the middle of off season. I've been doing low-intensity running and biking - nothing like the level I'd normally be doing FOUR WEEKS before a marathon. But, I'm realizing, with the support of my husband and stepson that it's not about a PR this time. It's a "practice marathon", a chance to contribute to something bigger than me both for the city and for my cousin. Even if I walk most of it and keep my HR nice and low, I can just consider it a really really long LSD!
I called the Race director's office this morning before making plane reservations and asked if this was for real. They told me they've got 1,000 people registered so far.
With a deep breath, I registered for the race and bought the ticket.
So, back to my original question. Am I crazy? And, will any other Trifuelers be there?
