Garmin 301 HR Usage Question

I have the 301 - when used indoors it doesn't calculate calories - really only able to track your HR and zones.

Hey Yall,
Bought a Garmin 301 for the wife, and without tearing the book out of her hands, does anyone know how to make the Calorie counter work indoors?
She spins several times a week, and would like to use the Garmin to record her spinning workouts. What I've seen in the book, there is a General Setting to turn off the GPS, but the Calories don't seem to be counted.... :mad:
Any help is greatly appreciated....
