How did I loose 4 pounds over the holiday?

First off...I did a lot of traveling and ZERO exercising! I was just going to use it as a rest week. I then ate like a pig! Deep fried turkeys and I was around 8 or 9 different cakes plus southern foods (i.e. fatty, greasy JUNK...aaah it was good).

I get back to work today and start my workouts again. I decide to weigh myself and see how bad I hurt my progress and to my surprise, I lost 4 pounds in under 2 weeks! That's better than my weekly average when I work out daily!

I'm a bit confused...but could I have lost muscle mass that quickly? Or does your body absolutely need that rest period to continue to burn fat (which honestly, I haven't really been using rest weeks). Whatever the result, I'd like to try and repeat it (unless it was muscle loss!)...which is the reason for this post!

Oh, and Santa brought me some size 34 jeans! They fit juuuust right! I'm stoked! Before I started working out, I was in size 40 pants. So I'm getting to my goal..slowly at times, but always moving forward!

So....what you're saying is....benching 1.5 times your body weight 10+ times is NOT good for triathletes?! OOOOOH! :D

Jose,

Did you ever hear the expression, Don't look a gift horse in the mouth?
Consider yourself lucky, and eat healthy.

Best of luck in your training for 2006. :)

P.S. - I think I found those 4 pounds you lost.

:( I gained a kilo over Christmas. It was more due to my lushing than eating.

Problem was they made more than cookies - Did workout pretty hard but not sure how many calories are burned on a roller when white knuckling the bar trying to keep it centered. At least that is getting easier now. Guess the lbs could have been worse.

Yeah?
I didn't change an ounce.
No turkey dinner. No shortbread cookies or sweets. Nada.
No Christmas either. My family all died last year and, being single, if I want a turkey dinner, or baked treats, I'd better learn to cook!

Any prospective wives out there who like to cook?

at least it didn't set back the training program.

ITs interesting b/c ive had similar experiences where ive lost weight while doing no exercise. yet, when i am training a lot i cannot seem to lose weight. Sometimes, i think it takes the body awhile to catch up. It could be water loss. I highly doubt that you lost 4lbs of muscle. either way, id be happy!
