Forum Update

Hey gang,

Sorry for the live editing of the forums today... Had lots of templates to tweak to apply the same look & feel as the rest of the site. Please let me know if you run into any wierd display issues.

I've added "Similar Threads" to the forums, so now at the bottom of some posts there will be a list of threads that have similar keywords or topics.

Also, am trying to make the profile display elements consistent across the site so if you notice your avatar is smaller it's because I've applied a 48x48 image style to it. You can resize or upload a new avatar if you need a fix. Let me know if you need any help with the resizing.

I'll try to work on everyone's public profile pages this month as well. Fix up the design and link them into any reviews or lists you have in the other site sections.

Time to crash. Thought this was only going to take an hour... 5 hours later, blah.

Wow, sounds like lots of work. Thank you!

New forum look is smooooth. I like. Thanks Tribro!

Thanks Tribro. This site is amazing!

Hey tribro! The "similar threads" feature is an awesome addition...
Thanks! Everything looks great...

Thanks for all the hard work to keep this site state-of-the-art!!

I was surprised by the new look. What a great early Christmas treat. You do such good things for us.
Thanx,
Chris in Ohio

This is why I recommend this site to everyone who will listen....
Thanks tribro

Thank you Tribro the new look is really cool....
Thank you for the hard work!!!

Nice clean look!

There does seem to be a small display issue - When posting it sometimes flashes part of the previous screen on the left of the panel.

Is there a way to mark posts as read? I might just not be seeing it.

Thanks for all your hard work! This looks great!

Thanks for the feedback gang.

RV - I added the "Mark Read" link back to the links at the top of the forum section "Profile, Invite..., FAQ, etc." I hadn't ever used it so wasn't sure if it worked. Let me know if this is what you were looking for.

I haven't run into the other issue. It may be a CSS displaying issue with the browser? What browser are you using? Is it when you Reply to a post? or create a new one?

Tribro - Thanks - The Mark Read is what I was looking for.
I'm using Netscape 7.2 - It occurred when I hit the Quote button on this Reply - it is just a quick flash - Also when I submitted it. It looked like it was the panel from the right redisplaying on the left (the one with Advertise on Trifuel)

I really like the new look. Thanks Tribo!

Also a fan of the new look... nice and clean!

I was noticing little changes here and there. Great work!!

Thanks!!

Generally it looks cleaner now. That's good, subtle, but good.
And the screen sizing is better in 800x600, but that may have been just my own 'puter settings.

I miss the drop down menu at the bottom of each thread enabling us to navigate to forums from the end of the thread.

Geoff

I agree I like the new style Paul, except it would be nice to duplicate the top line, i.e.,

"Profile, Invite Friends, FAQ/Rules, Members, Calendar Search, New Posts, Mark Read, Log Out"

at the bottom so that we would not have to scroll to the top to choose an option.

My 2 cents.

Thanks for the comment guys. I took some of the stuff out to help make the pages faster loading. I'll look into adding back in the drop down forums list. The navigation at the bottom might be a little trickier.

Sounds good, but if you want it to load fast take away the adverts on the side, but I know I know.....You have eat right? :)

;) true. maybe a tip jar instead...

I actually like the Google ads.
But, of course, I sell advertising. :)

How much use does that Thread-Search engine get at the end of the posts?

Not sure. I don't that I can track the usage. I think less for people just reading the posts everyday, more for those searching for specific topics, or come in through other search engines. I'll get a better idea after a month or so and see if the forums page views are higher.
