Welcome to the club. Lots of advice and discussions here. Must be nice to have no winter. DAMN
May I ask what Paiko means? It sounds like a really cool name.
Welcome to the forum. Enjoy.

Paiko is a name I took form a bird sancuary near my house. As a kid we would wade out to the small peninsula and hang out or go surf. It was named after a Portugese family (Pico) but spelled in hawaiiana. It is still there and I fantasize about opening up a tri shop in the area (all those toys for me to play with) and if profitable I would set a fund for the sancuary.

I live where winter doesn't really exist.
Good to have you join up - We need someone to post to the regional board for Hawaii.
BTW - Just finished shoveling out from the latest snowfall - Will have to switch out my long run tomorrow for some x-country skiing

marzian,
Hope your enjoying and making the most out of school. I lived for a couple of years in Denver and hung out in Boulder while I was going to school. Wasn't into endurance events and tris were still in it's infancy then. I endured the winters there and while stationed in Germany. I liked living in different places because then you get a real feel for the place rather than visiting for a few days. Never felt as comfortable there as I do here at home. Familiarity with the area and neighbors I guess. Perhaps we'll bump into one another when you come home. Till then.... Aloha, John

very true john. living in the mainland sure has its rewards. colorado is my second favorite state so far. home #1.
did you do the tinman? the honolulu marathon is this weekend (tomorrow) i think, are you doing it? i keep informed by way of honolulu advertiser on line.
take care

Did the Tinman but pulled out of the Marathon because of knee injury. I did the early entry so I'm only out $15. The weather was great for the race, few clouds and slight 5-10 mph NE winds. Going bike riding tomorrow.

hello john,
i am in the islands right now and enjoying every minute of it. i will be here until january 1st. i have been running with my good friend siul mitchell, he is in the air force reserve and is training for the Great Aloha Run and so i run with him. We went out for a 30 mile bike ride around Hanauma Bay and Waimanalo this past Thursday and it was great. it is nice to be riding in december in the sun. do you go to Niketown? maybe we can go out for a short run.
take care,
Marzian
Marizan,
Hope you're enjoying the cool weather although it may seem a bit warm for you now. I'm dying to run but am laying off for a bit because of my left patellar tendonitis. I skiped the marathon because of it. It seems to feel ok and I plan to get back on the road after New Years. I have been biking and swiming until last week when I had a fall that gave me a slight shoulder separation and groin pull. So my swimming is out but am still able to bike. I did Waimanalo via Hanauma last Tuesday morning and plan to ride town tomorrow morning (Tues.). The bad thing is my schedule has me riding or running early morning hours between 3:30 to 6 am. I work at 6 and try to get in something before then. The rides are nice since there's not much traffic on K. hwy. and you just zip along. If you're in the mood for an early morning ride let me know. Oh and as for Niketown, my niece gave me a gift cert for xmas. Happy Holidays!

Marizan,
Ding, ding! The bell just went off. Are you talking about the run from Niketown? I forgot they did those. What day and time is that? I may be able to swing by for a short run. Shoot me an email.

My name is John and as you might guess I live where winter doesn't really exist. Ok when it's in the 60's we do get out the jackets and arm warmer (don't laugh it's true). I'm not new to tris but I've only been in the sport for 2 years. Done sprints and olys and next year hope to move up to halfs and possibly a full. I subscribed to the Trifuel news letter and decided to check out the boards. Saw some interesting posts so I signed up. Hope to get some good advice and meaty discussions. See you on the board.
