Nube here; has anyone tried Hammer products (Perpetuem, Recoverite, etc)? What do you think of them? Is Recoverite, for example, really better than a turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread?

I have used Hammer Gel before, and it was pretty good.
I am using PowerBar PowerGels now.
They are just easier to find in your local sporting goods store and they agree with my tummy :D

Im trying to rep them here in Switzerland. They keep telling me that a German reps them for Switzerland. (totally illegal) They somehow have the idea that both countries. Hope their products are smarter than the people who run them. Got to get Hitman to write me a letter.

I use both Hammer Gel and Power Gel. Both work well - I use the flasks for Hammer.
I know the Ultra Runner guy recommends Perpetuem for extended training/race sessions. I plan on trying it. I wasn't too impressed with Recoverite. Might have just been the taste.

Didnt like Hammergel too much. Might have just been the flavor. I too, stick to Powergels. I also dont make the $$ for all those fancy recovery drinks. So I stick to turkey on wheat and wash it down with milk!

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Blitz,

Hammer is one of my team's sponsors. Is that a conflict of interest?

Maybe if you show me some $$$, I'll see that there's no conflict and try to help you out. I'll accept payment in dehydrated reindeer hearts if you can guarantee they'll get my stroke-count below 20 while maintaining (obtaining!) a decent speed. :p

I switched from Clif Shots to Hammer Gels this last year. The taste is better, seems to go down easier, and the LBS has started carrying Hammer.

I also started using the Endurolyte Capsules from Hammer during Marathons, and long rides/races. Having the needed electrolytes has stopped all of the cramping issues I was going through. Now, I carry water, gels, and caps while running and racing. During Duos, I do mix a bottle of Accelerade for the bike ( haven't switched over to Perpetum yet, still have some Accelerade left in the can)...

I like Hammer Gel products, power gel seems to be too sweet for me. Doesn't sit right in my stomach. I use their flask or just mix it up with some water and add some Hammer Electrolyte caps. Salty n sweet. It doesnt taste that great, but Its not something you sip on. I would give a thumbs up for Hammer. I do like Clif products though also (BLOKS). ;p

The first time I tried the hammer gels, I thought they were the nastiest things in the world, after my 1/2 marathon a couple weeks ago, they were the best things I had ever tasted, even the plain tasted great. I'm going to stick with hammer for now.

I used Perpetuem and Endurolytes for my 24 Hours of Adrenalin mountain bike race (solo). I was five hours into it and couldn't scrape up enough energy to make it up the stairs one more time, so I ate some rice/chicken/vegies mix and shot out of the camp like a slingshot. I guess you need to train your body to use them for fuel while practicing before an event. I may implement them again, but only as an additional source of clean calories.

Hey everyone.
There is a new sugarfree, chewable electrolyte replacement that has just been released to the market. Check out lytengo.com for more info. Lyte'n Go is not really available in any stores yet but can be purchased on the site. If you'd like more information on becoming a distributor, there is a form you can fill out on the site.

The March Issus of Bike Mag (released Feb 21st) will have an add for the product.

Contact if you have any questions.....or no money.....he'll send you free samples!!
