How close to max pressure do you keep your tires at?
I keep mine all teh way up unless it is wet out, then i lower it 10psi or so. Also, if your ride starts when its cold, but ya know its going to end up hot, leave some room in there to prevent a blow out.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I ride at the max recommended pressure. Unless going for a long ride and it will be heating up as the day goes on, then as Triguy said, drop it back a bit.

Yeah, I keep mine at about 112psi. I'd seriously recommend getting a good floor pump, and checking your tire pressure before every ride. Its one of those things you don't really want to buy, but is so useful once you have it. When I eventually got mine, I realized I had been riding at about 80-90 psi for months.
The higher your tire pressure, the less your rolling resistance, so you go faster. You really want them as high as you can safely go. Which is why you lower them in wet weather (more contact with the pavement, more grip)

My birthday is this month and I was waiting for that to get a floor pump (which is another reason I wanted to ask the question, didn't want to go to the max pressure if it wasn't recommended). And my handpump now has a built-in gauge so I know where I'm at.....which is well below the 115 mark;)
So....what you're saying is....benching 1.5 times your body weight 10+ times is NOT good for triathletes?! OOOOOH! :D
A good floor pump with a pressure gauge is key.
Also, IMO the ones with the cheesy thumb-lock dual valve chuck stink.
I like the old fashion presta / schrader convertible chuck with the replaceable gasket (no lock).

Regarding air pressure…I used to max my tires out at about 120psi.
I am now rethinking that as I had a blow-out during a wreck.

Don’t know if 10-15 psi would have made a difference or not but why take a chance.

You got a TCR2 as an early birthday present, and now a floor pump, too?
You must be doing something right, Jose! :)

I pump up trying to get right in the middle of the 110 and 115 markers on my pump. As some others mentioned - The thing I find most important is to check them before every ride. It is strange because sometimes they are unchanged and other times they are down to almost 80 psi.

Just curious....my tires have a max pressure of 115 psi and I usually keep it around 105 to 110 (this is solely because I use a small hand pump and it's extremely difficult to get it any higher than that). I was planning on getting kevlar beaded tires for my next pair b/c I was told they allow a higher pressure and therefore are better at avoiding pinch flats.
I'm a bit gun-shy about my pressure because the first week I commuted I had 2 flats on my front tire...since then I've been very good at keeping the pressure up, but I can't get it to max which originally was my goal. Where should you be...Pressure-wise?
