Hi guys, I thought I would share these videos on catch technique in freestyle. There are also some good drills here that WILL help if you do them meticulously and slow.
If you have Quicktime v6.5.2 you can use the left/right arrows on the keyboard to slow the videos down and make them go at the speed you wantr. This REALLY helps in the interpretation of stlye and form. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing. got a cool view of Ian Thorpe "The Thorpedo" doing a flip turn. Damn they make it look easy!
thanks BBB. I noticed in the first video that the swimer has his head under the water all the times, is this correct? I always swim looking down to the floor but part of my head is out of the water
The person in the video is swimming in an endless pool and has really bad technique because it is in an endless pool.
George has some vids of his own, similar to the second link that BBB shared. http://www.swim.ee/videos/freestyle/free.html
So not a fan of the endless pool I take it? Does the bad form caused by the endless pool transfer over to open water? Maybe a dumb, easy to answer question, but thought I'd ask.
In Ian Thorpe's vid front-above-arms-kayaking what does the kayaking pertain too. It wasn't obvious to me.
I was also thinking his head is too deep. Now Im confused. How deep should the head be?

An endless pool is better than no pool and even better than using a tether. My daughter has one it is fine but the water flow does not actually replicate swimming in a regular pool or open water. BBB is right they are good videos that give you something to follow for drills but I would do my swimming in a regular pool. The movements are slow and good to follow however I do not like every thing the swimmer does, (except the head too low), but when I teach I want the head low just not as low. The catchup is too slow you sink, I would like to see all of the drills being done in a little speedier fashion.
Thanks for the input!
For those who train in a small pool http://www.fiberliner.info/
I think for our purposes we need to be Larsen Jensen in the 1500 and not Gary Hall in the 50.
