Hi everyone.

In my excitement of joining these forums and asking questions of people that are just as passionate about multisport as I am, I forgot to introduce myself....Sorry. :o

I started running in march 2004. Since then I have done a variety of races including 6 half marathons, a 30km road race, and a marathon. I started doing spinning classes last fall. My classes were full of triathletes who convinced me to try multisport, at least duathlons. I bought a bike in the spring (now I am officially broke and owned by my bike!! LOL) and did a bunch of duathlons this summer. I capped off my summer with two Try-A-Tri races and now I am addicted!!

I have bought a trainer and hired a professional coach. My goals are two half-ironman races next season and ultimately Ironman Canada in 2007. I hope.......

In my journey thus far, I have quit smoking after 18 years of smoking a pack a day, and lost 25 pounds from my tiny 5'3" frame. It has been a major lifestyle change, but I wouldn't change it for the world!! Everyone I have met in triathlon are some of the toughest, most determined, and supportive individuals I have ever encountered in my life. Triathletes are truly inspiring people!!! :D

Thank-you for all of the help everyone has provided me thus far!!!

At 20 miles of the run in the Ironman we ask ourselves why we do this. At mile 140.6, it all becomes perfectly clear.

Welcome Trinity and BTW I love your signature at the bottom. "At 20 miles we ask ourselves why we do this. At 26.2, it all becomes perfectly clear." Oh SO true!

Hi Trinity!

Congrats on achieving your new lifestyle! Excellent...

I just started competing in triathlons this past season. I'm coming from a distance runner background. I've competed in several marathons, half thons and shorter races. This past June I entered my first duathlon and loved it! Then I went on to compete in a sprint and 2 Olympic tri's. My swimming?!?! OYE! I have my work cut out for me! But I am having a blast! I have a tri coach too. She is awesome!

Again, welcome to the forum. Maybe our paths will cross at a race someday. I am registered for the Blackwater Eagleman Half IM (6/06). Sometime next year I will think about a full IM in 2007.
Be sure to keep us posted about your races!

Yes.

Quiting smoking was the goal for starting running. The rest was just an accident. ;)

Swap one addiction for another, eh? :D

Well, if I do not make this year (2006), I will definitely be in the 2007. If I make 2006 then it's a toss up but I will be volunteering if not IN 2007. Good luck for the training. It's not a big deal. If you can do the miles, it's all in the head and nutrition. The training is the easy part of IMs. Getting the nutrition and mental part is 90% of the problem, beleive it or not.

Trinity- you will be if you want to enough. I can tell you that the race for me was one of the most awesome experiences I have ever had. Have done many marathons, swim meets around the world, but nothing like this. It is your reward for all the hard work and time spent training. I am already going through withdrawl. I promised my husband I would take next year off from an IM (or at least Canada because we have another trip planned two weeks before) :(. I plan to be back in 07 in Penticton!
