Are you watching? Kona Live! Right Now!
yep. I'm glued all day
Hi James,
how ya doin'?
This is great isn't it?
Even the six times I've been in Kona watching, I never had the helicopter shots and the commentary. I'm stoked!

Hey, my local guy, Tom Evans of Penticton, was 7th out of the water.
He won IMC 2004
Go Tom!
and DeeDee Griesebauer of Vancouver, BC is leading the women!
Great Canadian start. Now where's Peter, and Lisa, and Heather?

YEah Geoff, makes me want to get outside and train hard. I have a work colleague racing today as well.
I think we'll see the Cdns in the top 10 at the least. Go Tom, Peter, Heather, Lisa etc.
Dang. I thought the race was tomorrow. Guess I should have looked a bit closer at the date. Guess I know where I'm going next. :)

yeah, riding with NORMAN! at 4:32 behind Faris Al-Sultan.
He's sweated up (or drenched by a bottle) but looks in good rhythm.

he needs to keep it up within minutes... if he just remembers to fuel right for the run part tho. chris gogogo
and michellie jones is in first. and natasha is in fifth. I wonder what's going on with badmann. She's not using her typical bike strategy . . . This could be the start of a new reign will Al Sultan in the front.

the interview with tinley is hilarious ! he thought the two leaders were foreign cars ... haha, he had no idea who they were. i like tinley asking about the japanese u boat commander leading the swim. that uy is funny,

Staddler is out. They're not sure why. yeah, it'd be nice to see more than just the back of Jones from far away.

this live coverage is awesome! Lieto is coming up!
Lieto caught up to Reid! Yea! I can't believe how far they have to run after the bike before they get to their transition bags. I would be a little pissed. Although, if I were to look on the bright side, it kind of allows them to get their run legs before they get on the course. But still.
Chris is still in the tent and Peter is on the course.

Reid is out to catch Torbjorn. He's gained 1:30 on him by mile 2. Sweet. No word on Lieto though.

Faris's running form looks pretty strong. I guess that's what happens when you train with Kenyan's in Colorado! Let's see if he can keep it up.
- T
His turnover is not very fast though. And his stride is super long. Ken Mierke wouldn't be happy. ;)
-Toni
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. - FDR
Lessing is out AGAIN! Wonder what the reason was this time? I wonder if he is not psychologically strong enough for this race.
-Toni
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. - FDR
he gets the big wuss award
All the run articles talk about fast turnover like Reid's but Faris is still 4 minutes ahead with a long stretched out stride. His heel kick is incredible. I guess the heat in Hawaii would me mild compared to training in the UAE.
- T
Yeah, I'm not impressed by him. But I am by Jones who is still in the lead. Badmann is gaining on her but slowly.
Woah! DeBoom is now out. What the heck! Good thing we're not playing fantasy triathlete. Sheesh.
-Toni

Any update as to why Tim DeBoom dropped?

I would bet on Badmann catching Jones before I would Reid catching Faris.

Web page says Lieto is in 7th. Not sure how far back.
I would have to agree TBravo, but I don't think either are going to happen even though I'm rooting for Reid.
No word on DeBoom yet.

Lieto's still doing well. His pace has been between 6:50 and 7:18 and he's past the 17.6 mile mark.
Faris has 3 miles to go. I figure he has at least a mile on everyone else.
And McCormack has gone from not being in anywhere near race contention to sixth place. Interesting.
-Toni
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. - FDR
no word in Lieto?
Chris, Lieto is 33 years old.
no one picked Faris!
Go McCormack!
He blew by me in my very first Tri. He was on his second lap and I just started my first. He was flying, didn't even stop to give me an autograph.
- T
2005 Ironman World Champion is Faris Al-Sultan! Amazing! His stride and effort didn't look like it slowed too much. The stats screen says otherwise, but he looked strong all the way.
:( Natasha passed Michellie.
Did I not call Cam Brown placing 2nd again?
Poor Peter. He tried so hard to overtake Faris. At least he placed top 3 and didn't DNF like the other contenders.

wow this is so inspiring... not just the pro's, but the agegroupers too... i've had my eyes glued to the ironmanlive screen from mid-swim until i had to eat dinner and then back on for the past hour... I've always said that I don't want to do an ironman and would rather get good at short course, but this really makes me say, "someday"...
Yup you are correct 18!

Natasha pulled it off! 9:09:31 She's such a spaz when she finishes. It's very inspiring though.
Kate Major is taking second from Michellie. Poor thing. She worked so hard for sooo long to only get third.

oh don't worry chris... i might even wear a red thong :-)
first i gotta take 17+ min off my 10k run though and like 10 off my fastest bike split and 2-3 or so off my swim and then i'd be all set with about a 1:55... no i did quite mean that fast by fast, but that would be cool...
I can't believe kate major's 3:02 marathon... that's just amazing!
370+ people under 10 hours!! Woah!
Chris - your girlfriend just finished! In 10:10:30. ;)
