three years ago i got a new friend, jonathan. jonathan was my neighboor at the dorms in college. he would see me walk in and out of my dorm with my mt. bike and quickly rush to my room to talk about all kinds of rides around kentucky and how he loves mt. biking. i would get exited and ask him to come for a ride with me to which his reply was always no, no, no. i'd offer my bike (something i rarely do) and he would insist he was too busy. every weekend it was the same story: talk about biking and his refusal to ride, he'd read my magazine and daydream about how awesome it would be to go for a ride. in two years, jonathan never went on a bike ride with me.
about ayear ago, i was riding my bike through some tennis courts and heard a young woman yelling "you are doing great!, don't look down!, relax your elbows!' i thought 'she must be teaching her son or whatever how to ride a bike' as i turned, i was surprised to see that it was my friend jonathan. i rushed to talk to him and he became red as a tomato. i asked him why never told me he didnt know how to ride a bike and his said 'cause you pricks would make fun of me' i could not stop laughing.
once jonathan learned the ins and out of biking, we've gone on some killer rides and he is always thirsty for more. we've taken road trips all around kentucky to ride. he is not the best but certainly great company.
two weeks ago, jonathan got himself a roadbike. now, i can't get him off my back. its always "lets go for a ride!, dude, lets go for a ride!, dude you got time for a ride!' i do enjoy riding.
its the kind of nagging i don't mind. i wish i had more time. he is even planning spring break this far ahead so we can go on some riding vacation. crazy man.
i must say i like my new riding buddy.

awesome.. ive been trying to get my friends to get a roadie and one of my friends is trying to get me to get a mtb.. still hasnt happened yet..

dont want to thread-jack but this reminds me of this kid that i tried to surf with last year.. long story short (haha i had the long story before i decided to delete it) he told me he surfed "mavs" (a huge break here in california) and "has relations" with a lot of girls.. theres a difference being lying and embarassement..

awesome that you have a new training partner.. ive been thinking about traveling for biking or a race for next year
