Hello guys!!!
Here I am again...just want to ask you...for a piece of advice in order to improve my performance with some strenght trainning... :o
I have heard that there is some controversy...and some secrets of routines to train propertly with weight resistance to improve the overall performance....
I have heard some people recomend a rowing machine...that is the weirdest thing...I mean...I like that piece of equipment...but...how good that could be to prepare for a tri...Since I am very new at this...I will apreciate some advise from you guys!!!
By the way I am doing a Triathlon here in Ecuador...nothing official..actually this thins is just getting started in this country....
Any way...best wishes to all...and hope to hear from you

Regards

As an ex-coligate rower I know that it was great for endurance and getting you stronger when done correctly. But as for tri's I have wondered the same thing, toying with the idea of adding it back in when I start base training. Great question :)

I really is a great idea...
I have to confess that as soon as I heardabout it...I gave it a try in my workout....
I really works like nothing else...your whole body structure...upper and lower body...Shoulders...tris and bis...your latissimus dorsi...scalenus...trapecious, that really helps with better performance in open water swimming....
For running...with the motion over the rowing machine, you contract your core...and a good midsection is a key for proper running....
And you legs...going back and forward...also work....
The thing is...how much...how long...and during...pre-season...in-season...or off-season...
Don´t you guys think!

I LOVED crew! It does wonders for your legs and back! I can def. see an advantage in using one of these for off season cross trianing. However, Ergs are NOT cheap. Better off with some weights, unless you've got a pile of cash laying around.

The words of wisdom that have helped me through the off season, races, and any hard training say when ya really hurt: "ya gotta go on your bad days"

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Did you ever row with the club in Tampa based out of the UT boathouse?? I used to row summers there, if you didn't they are a group to row with. :D

I rowed for UCF for a year. Then my GPA forced me to drop it. I miss it terribly. $$ right now doesnt permit much besides Tris and MTBing. I know a dude that rows there, and he rubs it in my race :(
