CTS Pedaling Technique DVD
I haven't seen it, but I've seen other CTS videos, and have been coached by CTS for 3 years, so I have a pretty good idea what's on it. Bunch of people sitting on trainers doing fast pedal intervals, and perhaps one legged pedals. To my taste I'd rather watch TDF DVD's or trash tv while i did the intervals. The CTS program to improve your spin is a lot of fast pedal intervals (low gear, 114-120rpm, working up to 10 minute intervals) and one legged pedals ( typically about 1 minute intervals).
And just remember all you need to know about pedaling. "scrape the dogs***t off your shoes. (greg Lemod's advice)
Thanks for the info. I know the theory and basic technique to pedaling right, I was just hoping for some more help. The rollers are helping me a bit at a time, I'm not all over the place on them like I was to start, I was just hoping to glean some secret to efficency. Oh, well.

What advantages do rollers offer over a trainer?

on rollers you have to balance yourself. They'll teach you to be smooth. The knock on rollers is that they don't offer as much resistance as a trainer (although rollers with small barrels increase resistance,a nd some rollers have a resistance module to add on). Also you can't sit back and read a magazine. (unless your one heck of a bike handler.)
The first time you hit the carpet off the rollers is an adventure.
It would be nice to have both actually, rollers for form, and trainer for building strength, high intensity workouts.
Thanks - appreciate the input. I have a nice trainer - so maybe add the rollers to my Christmas list!

Triguy,
Not sure if you said if you are a CTS member or not. If you are, you can find two pedaling videos in the CTS video library and a few other general biking videos. You can also find biking videos from CTS at performancebike.com. I think CTS changed their logo so they may have changed the packaging a bit.

I'm not a member, though I went throught the sales part fo their site. I also visited pretty much every other bike store online and can't find it. I know they used to make one, but can't find it. Is the CTS membership worth the $$?

CTS was absolutely worth it for me because I had no clue as to how to train. Before CTS I alway thought the harder the workout was the better it was. (I know, I was pretty naive). Now that I have done CTS for a little over 6 months I could set up all the workouts on my own, however, I still find the coaching invaluable for the little things. I don't have a gifted aerobic system so I need every advantage I can find to reach the top atheletes in my age group. I got a second place this year which I couldn't have done on my own.
So all that said, coaching was good for me. I think most endurance coaches have similiar techniques - 'build your aerobic base first, then strength, specialization, and so on...'. I have read many posts in here from coaches that seem very knowledgeable so I don't think you would have to look just at CTS if you want a good coach but I would recommend them to anyone who asked me. Finally, I would say that you can probably find most everything you need to train in books, clubs, and websites like this if you don't want to spend the money on a coach.
I guess its kinda like the tri vs. road bike question. I would say it is individual. I don't think there is any one correct answer.

Anybody have it, like it, willing to part with it? I've got my rollers and am doing fairly well though I know my stroke needs a little work. Figure I can watch something while I pedal that will help me out. It seems CTS doesn't make or carry it anymore..
