i prepared for a 1/2 IM in 4 weeks so anything is possible ! just take it easy and try to do some runs on a soft surface. listen to your body. running is probably harder on the body than anything else.

It may be possible - but that really depends on what your long runs have been to this point.
You can't just pile on a lot of mileage in a short time. Keep in mind the 10% rule.
If your longest run has been no more than 8 miles - then probably not enough time - considering also having some time to taper before the race. If you have been doing, say 12 or so - then probably enough time to work up to doing a long run of 20 - a couple weeks prior to the marathon.
I just did my first marathon - w/o specifically training for it. I was really training for 1/2 IM distance.
But I did have some 3 hour runs in the mix plus lots of 2 hour runs.
I held to my pre-determined pace and had a good day. That seemed to be the most important factor in the marathon, maintaining your pace - very easy to go out too hard - with all the people and excitement at the start. Seed yourself properly and stay on your pace and you will catch most of those going out hard later in the day.
Good luck.

Hi david! Well I have done one marathon this ammount of time...maybe less! I am a former pro cyclist and started to run cause I retire...I was running 3 days yes, one day no...2hr, 1-1.5hr, 2hr..off...But it was a but too much! So I was also riding and go for 1.5hr run in the row...The max I have run before the marathon was 2hr15...but hey dont be too stressed, the only thing you have to be ready is the day D to have FUN,and dont look at the KM sign...I ran hr after hr, keeping a pace at the hr without thinking too much...you will make it! GOOD LUCK! Its gonna be a nice day you will see!
cheers,cat

8 weeks... yes it's possible.
You probably won't win, but hey, I don't think it's your goal right now! ;)
Start by running lots of slow miles, then gradually raise speed as the weeks go by.
If you can run for 2h, you can run the marathon.
But be careful, because your muscles are not used to run that much, so after your ~2h run time, during the marathon, you will probably suffer from serious cramps if you don't get enough electrolytes. Don't just count on the stuff given by the volunteers : bring your own fuel.
Good luck.

Yes, you can do it as others say BIG THING: Listen to the Body. If it hurts too much stop and rest, don't overdue things. Repeat, Listen to the Body and you'll be fine.

You can make it man...
One time, after good solid months I did in a little over 8 weeks
Just remember a Marathon distance is a long one, and as some others said, is very important to keep your own pace, be focused and not get to excited to follow some runner with a freaky speed...take care of our muscles, work your core musculature good, and take it one day at the time in matters of trainning
Listen to your body, very very careful, try to be as relax as possible, stress can mess you up....and also put you in the path of a probalbe injury and/or burnout
You must be in pretty good shape by now, if you have been trainning for a Olimpic Tri distance....
Have a very good balance diet program it make a whole world of difference
And....on Race Day....have as much fun as possible....because I asure you that is gonna be a blast....
Let us know how does it go y...vaya con Dios amigo!
