I can now say I am a triathlete!
Congrats! Looking forward to a race report (little things you remember, how you felt, thoughts in your head) if you write one later :)
Congrats!
How was the swim? Heard that the surf there can be a little rough.

Awesome!!! I know that there is little else that makes me feel the way I do after a race. Congratulations and welcome to your new addiction. :)
Fantastic. Was the swim the feared washing machine or did you stay calm and outside the melee and enjoy?
Isn't it great to think of training now, knowing you can do it and just enjoying?
Congratulations
Garth
Congrats. I'd love to hear from people who did the race. I'm planning on doing it when it comes around again.

Congrats outdoorgirl,
I know you were nervous about the swim, how were the conditions?
Told you it wouldn't be too bad didn't we?? ;)
Nothing to it, but to do it
Hey guys! Sorry for the long delay but I took the day off work to hang out and get stuff done. The swim was soo mellow...I was surprised. The only thing that happened on the swim was that I was going under a wave and someone in front of me didn't know how to and she slammed into my face and knocked off my goggles. So I didn't have goggles for the swim...but it was all good. I am dying to know what my time was. The day before the race the waves were bigger and the water ultra choppy. But the morning of the race we had 1-3 foot waves and smooth. The buoys are set really close just past the waves breaking and you swim down the beach to the right and in. I would totally recommend this race to all. The swag bag included a hat, tshirt, and several other nice things. The race is well run and beautiful. I posted most of the details on my blog. We stayed at a hotel in Santa Monica so it was 20 mi away from the race site....a little drive in the morning. But there aren't any that are very close. Let me know if you have any other questions. You guys were soooo right that I was making a mountain out of a molehil! I have pictures that I need to upload to put on my blog...but need to figure out how to do it. Thanks again for all the support both pre/and post race. I need to figure out my race schedule for next year! This winter I am doing the OC 1/2 Marathon in Jan cause the run is my weakest event by far.
Good job, sounds like a good race for you....Goggles don't help anyway.... I can't ever see the lane line in the open water :)
Great job, but beware triathlon is addictive and I'm afraid that by next year you will be an addict. Is there a Triathlete’s Anonymous support group on this site?
Good luck finding a Triathlons Anonymous here.
We would have to call it TA (hee, hee, hee)

Sometimes I think this site is *all* a TA site... a TA site gone very very bad!
Yea, I agree...it is most definitely a support group for addicted triatheletes!

Hi I am Scott and Iike to abuse myself thru swimming, biking and running on my own,
and also paying someone to provide somewhere I can do this in public. I also wear spandex in public at these events. I justify all of this when I get a t-shirt to show others How I paid for this abusive environment. :D

ha ha ha this is so funny. Yes, my name is Staci a self described adreneline junkie and now triathlon addict. I love the torture of the open ocean, biking long hills, and grueling hot flat runs. I have a problem and need help...can anyone here help me?

Jaymac,
BTW...i love your Yoda quote so much I copied and pasted it into Word and it is on my computer now. :p

Woo Hoo! I just finished my first tri yesterday. The Nautica Malibu Sprint. 1/2 mi swim, 18 mi bike, 4 mi run. That was the most fun sporting event I have ever done. I am still waiting for the results to be posted but I think I beat my personal goal. Now I am looking forward to next year and doing more tri's! Thanks to all of you who have answered my newbie questions since May when I started training. I love trifuel, it is really a wonderful site! :p :p
