Josh -

This looks pretty cool (along with the other racks on there):

Also, you live in SLO? How long have you been here? What Tri's do you plan on doing/what have you done? Im looking for someone to train with locally, on the bike. Poly? Cuesta?

I'm saving up for one of these by Topeak:

http://www.topeak.com/products/stand_004.html

It doesn't need to be bolted into the walls or celling as it just pushes against the roof and floor to hold it in place. It can hold two or three (with the extra piece) bikes. I can order it through my LBS so i don't have to worry about buying online and freight stuff. There are also lots of ad's for bike racks in the back of cycling and triathlon magazines.

What about an in-office bike rack? Something that would either hang above a short bookshelf (about 4 feet tall) or something that would hang from the ceiling? The ceiling though is one of those false ceilings that have those metal strips with that foam boarding in squares....so I'm not sure a ceiling one would work. Oh, and bolting to the wall is definately not a problem.

So....what you're saying is....benching 1.5 times your body weight 10+ times is NOT good for triathletes?! OOOOOH! :D

Here is what I did in college:

I just took one of the storage hooks they sell at home depot (it has a screw in one end and the other is large enough for you to fit a mountain bike rim/wheel in) Im sure you have seen them...
well i mounted it about 5' off the ground (in a stud) and left the hook in a horizontal orientation.

what I did then was to just put my front tire in the hook and lower the bike - it never moved and the only issue is that the tire marked black on the wall ( I didn't care).

It may work for you....

oh and it only cost me 1.50 and it kept my bike on display (looked like the bike was riding up the wall)

I got through college with my bike in a dorm room the same way. Just used two hooks and hung the bike by the top tube. Took the front wheel off so that it didn't stick out as far and took up less room.

In our shed I have hooks (as mentioned above, screw in) and hang the bikes from them by the front wheel one after the other. Unfortunate thing is that we don't use them much cause we're always riding everywhere :)

My Guru tri-bike lives in the house with my faithful Pit Crew and I. Got it stood up on the repair stand right now in the Den. My faithful pit crew has allowed me to convert part of the Den into a bike shop/gear storage area. I really really love her!!!

Our MTB's gets to stay in the garage, they're not housebroken, and track mud and stuff all over the carpet.....

I like the hook in the wall thing for the garage but the Target bike rack is for inside.

Works well as a repair stand too

I still use the hooks in my garage, Ive got 4 bikes right now (2road, 2mtn) and they are all pretty much out of the way (ceiling is high enough where you can walk under them w/o hitting my head - 6'-0")

Good luck SLJV -
(I didn't recomend hanging from the ceiling b/c they usually wont let you do that in a dormroom)
