Loops ?
Maybe they have a chip mat you ride over?
I did a multi lap Du a couple of years ago and that is how they kept track.

Chip timing for looped courses has worked flawlessly for me in multiple looped courses dating back to Sportstats in 1991. You really are not talking about a whole lot of loops so I bet you will be well aware of exactly what loop you are on in the race. Now if I could just get past lap three in the pool I would be happy.
I did a half iron this summer with a quasi loop, and I know I saw people shaving a bit. There was a small 1 mile out and back in the run, and no chip mat to keep track of people. I was a lil disappointed to see people cutting of such a small amount to gain an edge.
When people cut the course they are just cheating themselves.
I do an event to DO the event.
If I wanted to skip part of it why not stay home and watch it on TV?
I would rather do the distance and be slow than not do the distance and finish faster.

Its only 4 laps, so they will look at the times after the race, and if someone had an average speed of 50km/h its obvious they skipped one. Yu can usually tell from looking at times.

Just did a tri with 4 loops on the bike and 4 loops on the run.
You will know what loop you are on.
Another way of doing it is to hit your lap time on the watch.
I just kept count of what I was on.
For the Abbotsford one with 6 loops, I had to keep telling myself what number I was on the whole way around.
4 4 4 4 4 5 5 5 5 6 6 6 6 6

Dude, is that the one at Walmsley Lake? I did that tri. in July. The swim is ok but I hated the run. Too repetative. The bike course is very bumpy by the airport.

If you are losing track you can also put a little piece of masking tape
on the handle bars for each lap. Take one off at the ap point.
Dispose of properly of course

So this Saturday I'm doing the Triathlon at Pacific Grove. It's my 8th race of the year and the first time I've encountered the Loop. A 10K bike loop we do 4 times and a 5 K run loop we do twice.
So the question...how the heck do they keep track of your laps. The race is chip timed so I'm assuming it's through that but since I hadn't seen this in a race yet and was wondering if anyone had any experience
Thanks
