took the next step!
awesome. looks like from your training you should be fine. just remember to have fun and enjoy the race. good luck and let us know how it goes.
Based on your workouts you haven't anything to worry about...
If that is the typical week for you then you probably could have signed up for an OLY and still had a good time.
Just make sure you practice ACTUAL transitions SWIM to BIKE and BIKE to RUN
Have a great time...

If you're going it with the SLO Tri Team, I guarantee you'll have a good time. Hell, do ANYTHING with the SLO Tri Team and you'll have a good time--we partied HARD back in the day.
Good luck!

Josh, congrats! Be prepared to become addicted to the sport. My experience has been that the training and the positive environment the races offer is just too powerful an experience to not want to do more of!
Your training will have gotten you thru the race without a problem. This past weekend I saw the most amazing display of fortitude. A young woman of 31 years entered a 1/2 IM distance race in Ottawa, Ontario. The woman was of average height but weighed at least 220 pounds. Consider
this, she has likely been overweight her entire life and very aware of the fact. Despite being surrounded by a big crowd of mostly very fit people she had the guts to get out there and make a
statement that she was going to improve herself.
Almost every racer on the course that I could see who passed the woman gave her words of
praise and encouragement. She sure had courage and I was proud to be in the race with her.
Yes she was last but she finished and probably came away from the day's experience with the best prize of all. This is a great sport and does os much good for so many.

so ive been working out regularly this summer and ive decided to sign up for my first sprint distance triathlon.. it is october 1st at lopez lake here in san luis obispo, ca.. its a pretty short course .25 mi swim, 12 mi bike, 3 mi run.. i was hoping the swim would be about .5 miles, but this will be perfect for me to save some energy for the run..
my workouts have progressed, im currently swiming about 2300 yds x 2, biking about 18 - 20 mi x 2, and running 3.5 - 4.5 mi x 2 per week.. i feel super comfortable on my bike and im about to get some tri gear tonight (maybe even the trifuel top?? hear it will bump me up a few places in my age group)..
after signing up today i got super nervous, but i know im just psyching myself out.. i need to read up on race nutrition and warming up.. i think im most nervous about the running, but i have a month to get my stamina up!! more than enough time  anyone with any suggestions?
