and i don't think i could have picked a better time. and for a clinical rotation at the baton rouge general medical center too... should be interesting. thanks katrina.

anyway, i'm looking for some suggestions on good training running/biking routes. and for any public lap pools... i'm only here for 8 wks, but if anyone is looking for a training partner i'll be here.

happy training!

hey stay safe over there. our thoughts go out to that region of the country. not to be insensitive, but I'm sure you could get some good flat water kayaking sessions in.

Baton Rouge doesn't sound like it was hit as hard as New Orleans. But that's all relative.

Wishing a safe and fast recovery for the region.

oh if only i had a kayak... maybe someday when i grow up.

anyway, i'll answer my own question in case anyone else has the same one. i joined the YMCA which is pretty cheap and has 7 different facilities (with pools and tracks and - most importantly - AC!!) in the capital area. it has a discounted student rate, and it's a monthly membership.... perfect (for me)! the only bike routes i've found that are reasonably safe are on river rd. or around the lake at LSU. drivers here don't share the road well and there aren't shoulders on the streets for bikes. so there goes the idea of biking to/from work.

one month down, one more to go in good ol' baton rouge...

happy training!
