Hey everyone I'm new to this and I have been running and biking, but I always get bored on my runs and rides. Does it me or does it eventually get out of this stage? I always seem to have plenty of energy when I get done, so I'm thinking that my boredom is part of the reason I fill tried so quickly. Please Help Me Come Up With A Soultion.

It's important to vary your workouts so that this doesn't happen. You should be doing various levels of intensity, various lengths, different routes, adding in hills, drills e.t.c. This should help.

I have the same. I find it absurdly difficult to go running(another testament to my will power :p) cause its so boring. I find that its the same as getting up in the morning. You re really tired(i am anyway) and just the effort of getting out of bed is quite large, but, once you re up, Its all good.
Thats the same with me for running. Starting and the first 10 minutes are boring, but then while im there, i seem to not feel it anymore, and my mind wanders, and then i tend to enjoy it.
You arent supposed to be completely K.O. after you re done running. Your legs should feel a bit stiff and used up though. When i go biking, i always pedal at arond 80 percent of my potential till i physically cant. I think you need to push yourself more. For running, do interval training:
run-jog for half an hour. Every 5 minutes, run as fast as you can for about 13 seconds, then resume jogging at the same speed that you were going at when you started(so keep the jogging speed constant).
If there are trails or some stairs or something on your way, do those too.

hope i helped

Find a running and riding buddy! Visit your local bike shops and running stores, as most places will either have their own or will know about group workouts.
New routes always help, as well as short interval drills.
I would try to avoid the iPod/Walkman if you can, although music can alleviate the boredom of a longer workout, wearing headphones will get you a time penalty in most races. Not safe, either.
Have fun out there!

I actually share the same problem -- how to keep my mind occupied for 1 or 2 or 3 or more hours. My running partner moved to Baghdad, and my dogs can't keep up for more than about 10miles so I'm starting to have to do this on my own. Any advice on how to control or regulate my thought patterns during those long sessions? I usually end up filling my mind with negativity -- focusing on the pain, discouraging myself -- and I know it has an impact on my performance. I wish I could carry copies of many of the emails and articles posted on this site to read as I'm running or biking!

how does you mind not wonder to the stresses of life? on my rides i just drift. i get my best thinking done when i am in the zone. it is more or less my relaxation time of day, but hey i don't like my job very much so i look forward to my workouts on a regular basis.
