I'm curious what everybody else out there is using for CO2 cartridges. I'm riding Michelin ironman tires (700 x 23c) on clincher rims. The max air pressure according to Michelin is 116 psi. I've used 12 g CO2 cartridges on these tires and they've worked fine. According to Innovations packaging, a 12 g CO2 will fill a 700x23 tire to 90 to 100 psig. a 16g CO2 cartridge will fill a 700x23 tire to 125 to 135 psig. Being a heavier rider (195 lb), I like to keep my tires inflated at the upper end of pressure band to avoid pinch flats.

Do you guys and gals prefer a 12 g or 16 g CO2 cartridge? Has anybody every had a bad experience where they blew out a tire from using a 16g CO2?

i use the 12g since I just need it to get home. I carry two and if one is not enough i pop the next one hoping not to get a second flat....hasn't happened yet.

I usually use 12g, just enough to get me home and pump it up properly. 16g gives too much pressure for me.

Personal preference though
