Brett-
Congratulations on a great race and great finish - the heat was brutal. I saw your reply on my post re an oly. Where is West Point? I think I'll look into it and get started on a training plan for the off season. Are you doing Chataue Elan in the fall? I think that will be my next race outside of a couple of local 5K's.

A quick race report for the High Falls Tri the Parks Race in Georgia. First of all let me say that tribluesky does a great job of putting on their events! I highly recommend them for beginners or anyone that just likes to do a good race.
PreRace-Drove down to the park from my home in Northwest Atlanta. Ate a Cliff Bar and had some Gatorade on the way down. Arrived at the race site in plenty of time, I was there with 3 people doing their first tri one of whom was my wife so I had to help them set up their Transition area and give them a quick run down on what to expect. We all went down to the lake for a quick swim and warm up. One of my athletes freaked out a little as the water was murky and dirty with zero visability. After calming her down we lined up for our wave starts.
Swim-As stated before the water was murky and dirty so you could forget seeing anything underwater. This caused me to stick my head up more than usual for sighting. I had a good swim coming out of the water in 12:30 (600m) so it wasn't too bad.
T1-Had a good transition, I should really get some tri shoes and not race in cycling shoes that have 3 straps.
Bike-This is where I knew it was going to be a good day. I was able to hammer the entire ride and had the 3rd fastest bike split ( I was even faster than the guy who came in second overall) with a 37:10 (13.7) for a hair under 22mph avg. This is by far my best bike and proof that LT and hill workouts will pay off.
T2-Pretty vanilla here, off with the shoes on with the shoes and away we go.
Run- Boy the heat and humidity were brutal! Kind of rolling terrain also (and for some reason every dog in the neighborhood was on the side of the road barking at everyone) I ended up having a good run anyway clocking a 22:30 split (5k).
I ended up 8th in the M30-34 age group 1:30 out of the hardware, but since these races tend to draw the best athletes from the Atlanta area I was very happy with my result.
Overall a great day, again I highly recommend these races to anyone in the North Georgia area.
