I just picked up some Aqua Sphere goggles and saw a note on the package to increase the effectiveness of the anti-fog treatment by avoiding rinsing the lens before use, especially the inside of the lens. It goes on to say do not use solvents, chemicals, or toothpaste.

To avoid fogging I have always rinsed, spit, and rinsed my goggles. Am I really supposed to put these on dry? Does anyone have experience with these and suggestions for avoiding fogging?

Thanks

I never rinse my goggle out before using them, and try to keep them dry inside throughout a workout, as fogging is caused my moisture inside the google evapourating due to body heat, and then condensing against lens (which is cooler cause it is in contact with the water). I would have thought all goggles would say this, although I frequently see people rinsing them out before they swim, and I couldn never understand why.

Maybe there is something I am not thinking of.

i rinse mine because they always dry with some water in them so their is a lil film left from the water. I should be rinsing them with antibecterial soap + water then letting them dry under those hot blowers after my swims but I alwyas forget.

I have gone through several pairs of Aqua Sphere goggles and I have personally found that when I rinse them first, they just do not seal like they do when they are dry. Even if I just take them off for a second during laps, they will leak. That's just my experience - and I have had very bad luck finding anything better than Aqua Spheres. I have a small face with low nose bridge, so its probably just me and not the goggles! :p

I've had my Aqua Sphere goggles for two years, and always apply anti-fog drops. The goggles never fog, never leak, and I highly recommend them.

Has anyone tried the Aqua-Sphere XP goggles? My son lost my old Aqua-Sphere goggles on vacation so I am looking for some kind of replacement. I use Lane-4's for pool swimming but like something a little larger for open water swimming.
Thx - TBRAVO

I dig my Aqua Spheres. They actually fit my perfectly. My face shape is a little off, so speedos, nike, tyr never fit me. I use dive gel on the inside to make sure I dont get fogging.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I use the aquasphere and love them..

on the fogging:

spit in them, rub the spit on the lenses, then rense...

you will never have fog if you do it correctly - it is an old scuba diving trick i picked up when I was 16...

it just works..
