I am a grazer so I snack during the day.
My favorite healthy snacks are:
-salted almonds
-fruit (bananas, apples, pineapple, grapes)
-organic low fat yogurt with Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal
-Odwalla, Luna or Cliff bars
My favorite not-as-healthy snacks:
-chips and salsa/queso
-Corona Light and lime
-Vanilla Diet Cokes from Sonic
-Chicken tenders with honey mustard
-Anything chocolate (especially the new Haggen Daz Light S'mores ice cream...mmm)
My view is that it's all about moderation. I usually eat pretty healthy during the week, but the weekends are harder, especially when I do longer rides or runs. I just try to strike a balance, although I am trying to shed about 10 pounds before my Dec. marathon, so I'm being a little more mindful.
I would definitely say snack if/when you want. Just don't do what I did my first year of doing sprint tris...I read dietary recommendations for people doing more training than me, yet I ate like I was training for IM. I actually gained weight my first year! I hadn't quite figured out that balance of input vs. output.
Good luck!

Foood! anything is fair game out of training season, but I love doritos w EXTRA CHEESE including pizza and beer.
BUT while in training, anything with lots of fat is out! :( After the race next Sunday I will have my wife be at the finish line with a pizza and my bro is gonna have the beer. It's the incentive to cross the line.

I'm always curious of what other Triathletes enjoy as a snack (outside of a meal)
Two of mine are Raisin Bran and PB&J :D
What do you guys like to munch on...and why (how does it fit in your nutrition plan)?
