Tire Question

Does anyone ride "mismatched" front and rear tires. I ask this as I blew my rear on the way to work today beyond repair. My front is fine. In general my fronts rarely wear anywhere near the wear on the rear tire. I have accumulated many pairs of "training" tires for my mag trainer now and am contemplating keeping the front on but replacing the rear with a different tire, same dimensions.
Any cautionary tales due to tread patterns etc that I should be aware of or should I simply replace the rear with the same tire.

I am currently using schwalbe stelvios 700x23 . less than 600k before the rear went.
I use them for training and racing.

Thanks for any advice.

Yeah I did recently, didn't notice any problems. I only upgraded so my tires would be the same colour (match my bike see). I'm vain.

I have a different front and rear tire on my bike. I haven't noticed any problems at all. I'd say get whatever works best.

yup, sometimes i run a 650x25 bontrager on back and a 650x23 continental on front. I recently change to some orange tires to match some stuff but only because they tires were $12/each on sale. They match my tri suit ;)

Nice Dkidd, you sound like me.

As I said in a different post, biking is 80%, 20% talent right?
