So we all know that with the humidity we all sweat a whole lot more. So now whenever I have finished something outside (biking or running) and showered I have a wired rash on my mid section and it itches. I always were dri-fit stuff but with the humidity it seems almost fruitless. Any thoughts if this is caused by the extra humidity in the air? Is anyone else getting this?

Thanks!

Could it be left over detergent from the wash? or even the material?

I have used the same detergant pretty much my whole life a dye free, perfume free, doesn't kill the environment...

Had not thought of the material...I sure hope it is not I have just built up my dri-fit collection :(

What about something you ate?

Maybe you touched something and then touched your midsection?

I have gotten Poison Ivy in some weird places that way.

Also, periodically soak your workout stuff in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and distilled water.

it will help remove any smells and and any bulit up soap/detergent residue.

Let it soak for about 10 minutes then rinse with cool clean water and then wash normally.

You don't dry your dri-fits in the dryer with a "bounce" type sheet do you? This degrades the wicking abilitiy and could hold onto some harsh oils etc that make regular clothes soft. Also if your stomach perspires or if the sweat runs down alot it could be salt from your sweat irritating your skin especially over longer rides/runs.

Actually if you can don't put your dri-fit stuff in the dryer, or don't dry it for the full cycle.

Hang your stuff up to dry and it will last longer.

Considering your running clothes are more expensive than normal clothes.

So i don't dry my dri-fit stuff, and I wash all of it seperately. I am thinking it could be hives to something and swimming tonight may not be the best of ideas... :(

Until triathlons my body was so normal, not any more :)

Did you use any different personal products recently?

Soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair gel or spray, deodorant?

Did you shower somewhere other than home?

Did you have anything done to your plumbing? Water softener?

Anything that may have come into contact with your skin?

"Until triathlons my body was so normal, not any more" You're right, Now it is better :D

Good luck

The only thing that I can think of is the towels at the gym that I go to shower off before work...they may have changed their detergant, I of course just thought of that...hmm

and yes much better :)

Try bringing your own towel to the gym for a while to see if it helps.

If the rash itches try an oatmeal soap or bath. Use a cortisone anti itch cream after.

It used to help with my Poison Ivy.
