Bike Frames for Hefty lads
I 've been riding a Kestrel Talon :D for over a year with no problems at all - from 234 down to 220 currently. It's a strong bike that climbs well and stays solid when I'm out the saddle sprinting. It's also comfortable in the flats which makes it an excellent all around bike in my opinion.
As a fellow bigger guy... I would say stick to the alum. My MTB is a little small for me, I beat the crap out of it, and it holds. If ya go Ti (good option if the $$ is there, find a custom builder. Theyll make it so the frame wont flex, and when compared to box brand Ti frames, the price aint bad at all, I think its actually a steal!)
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I had a tri-specific frame made by Guru, it's Aluminum with Carbon Fork and Chainstays. I'm currently at 205, and this thing is rock-solid. Climbs well, and is smooth in the flats.
Since I'm long of leg, 37" inseam, I went with a custom fit. Guru had the frame back in 4 weeks. Of course, it cost a little extra, but the bike is worth it.

I need a little advice on a new frame...I'm currently riding an aluminum road bike and I want to upgrade to a tri specific frame. I weigh 215lbs and a buddy who rides bikes exclusively told me I shouldn’t be riding an aluminum frame. So what material is best for bigger folks for durability and performance ? Titanium? Steel? Carbon Fiber?
I also want to take all my components (Ultegra) from my current bike, Wheels, Bars, Seat, gears, everything and just transfer them onto my new frame, Is that a fairly easy switch or am I gonna run into a bunch of compatibility issues?
As you can see I am a little Bike stupid and need some help…
Thanks
