Welcome.

I didn't get into triathlon to lose weight but the training helps me keep my weight down.

Before I started running about 2 1/2 years ago I was almost 220, and I am only 5'9"

Now I am about 170-175. Feels much better.

Good luck with your goals. :D

Welcome! This group is awesome for helping keep in touch with goals (through the good and bad). The blogs are good for goals, too... (triathlonlife.com is the blog site for us trifuelers).

i am actually pretty big for my frame 5'8"... 240.... but i used to be a competitive bodybuilder before wife and kids... so some of it is still muscle but the belly has to go... i am in the military and they make us run anyway so i figured why not give it a try... thanks for all the support... i am sure i will need it...

I would pick a goal event first, like a sprint tri. It will give you a motivating focus for your training.

Check on this site for some ideas about training plans.

Also work in a nutrition plan with that.

I use active.com for events in the US.

They also have a version of their site dedicated for Europe activeeurope.com

I would give that a try.
