Does anyone else get chest cramps on their right side, maybe like an inch from the right nipple, or in the middle of the chest right on the breast bone? I never get them on my left side.

If you get a flat, and don't have a tube, Suck it up and run it in!!!

In my case it is not like cramps but a painful feeling as well.
It can't be something with my lungs nor stomach - it is very close to the skin.
Usually I get them after eating and then starting for a run.
I did not figure out what it is, but during a race it is annoying to have to stop down and get the pain go away.

yup, i get those on occasion. I haven't been able to pin-point what it is yet but I'm thinkin it's a mucle spasm or something of the sort. Cause usually it only happens when I'm doing hard efforst. Anyone know exactly what this is all about?

Is it painful to take in a deep breath/ does it seem stress induced? When I was 12 I started getting chest pains about once a day, and it would be very painful to breath in. Imagine knife stabbing pain in lower chest area for every inhale lasting a minute or two.
I'm suspecting it was hyperventilation or diaphragm cramps. I always try calming my breathing and breathing through a closed fist. Had them all through high school and college and was told I would out grow them. The frequency of pain eventually reduced to very high stress times. I'm now 24 and I think the last ones I had were over a year ago. Funny, that's the around the same time I graduated college, stressed much?

I too get the pains after heavy workouts, especially when they are long. Does anyone know if this is related to what 4loren says, "diaphram cramps"? Or is it something else?

I don't know what causes them but I get them too. In fact, toward the end of a recent 9-mile chip-timed run I was really pushing it out the last mile and I started getting the pain. Mine is in my upper right chest almost up to the collar bone.

I don't remember this happening before but it stopped hurting as soon as my HR came down into my zone 2 range. I had chalked it up to still trying to gain fitness, the heat and my high exertion. Wonder what really causes these?

Any doctors or physiologists out there in trifuel land? :)
