Canada where marathon swim races began. That little lake in Montreal I raced in a thirty hour swim there, that is were I ate pizza during the race. Those Egyptians were around then, I raced Abou Heif http://www.ishof.org/98aabouheif.html there he was a pretty good swimmer.

Abou's web site http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Loge/2420/

That was a great article. Thanks for finding it and putting the link here. That definetely takes the open water swim to a whole other level of competition. I'm surpised at how dirty everyone is with the vaseline, kicking, tugging, etc.... I'm new to triathlons (done 2 so far), and I'm wondering if this goes on in the more experienced or elite levels?

Wow George!!! You have a lot of accomplishments under your belt. I visited your site and I'm very impressed. I really enjoyed the shark bait pic. That is a sure way to make anyone swim faster. Thanks for the great stories.
