What a fantastic clear sunny great Sat. and Sun. we have here in beautiful BC lower mainland! I just love it.BBB
If I we had a smiley giving ya the finger, you'd be seeing it. Stupid hurricane. Rain/ winded out my race prep yesterday and caused some major changes to the race venue (they radically shortened it) Race report to follow. Stupid hurricane.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Made to first week of taper for my next 1/2IM!
Yesterday, did a 3 hour ride followed by a 1.5 hour run. This time got my wife to ride along to carry water bottles - it is pretty hot here right now.
Then did a short open water swim.
Today did an hour recovery ride and some strength training.

oh ya! I forgot about that hurricane Chris Wow, I hope all is well with you guys. Sorry 'bout the sunny comment, guess I should have thought first hehe. Seriously, those things can be pretty bad. Have a safe recovery. All the best.
Just think of it this way, what a great opportunity to go and bike against the wind doing intervals...headwind training :D

Sat. - 70 miles on the bike (high of 97 degrees) - A few too many hills for my taste. Man, were my knees hurtin'.
Sun. - 18 mile run. Another scorcher.
Training solo sucks!

It's strange. I rode 70km in 2:30:00 and I feel like I was slacking, having ridden the IM bike course each of the last two weekends.

10 miles on the Las Vegas Strip. Woke up at 6:00 am and headed down to the strip from the Bellagio. Took a right and headed for the Mandalay Bay/4 Seasons end. I counted 13 hookers on the way.
Turned around, crossed the road and ran past the Tropicana, MGM, Paris, Wynn and on down the the Stratosphere. I counted 18 hookers on the way. A drunken frat guy tried to race me for about 30 feet and a very drunk, very angry guy started cursing and screaming at me from about 50 feet away. He was flipping me off as I ran toward him. I started laughing and he tried to jump up in my grill. I wanted so badly to smack him as I ran by, but I'm pretty sure that he would have hit the pavement with a slight nudge.
In all, it was a fantastic run - I whole-heartedly recommend the run if you ever find yourself in Vegas on vacation. It certainly takes some of the guilt away ;)

i feel like a slacker compared to all of you.
Sat:
ran 7miles saturday to start the day
swam with the kids and got in the lap pool for maybe 500yards tops. 5y/o is learning to swim and had to show me her "new" stroke.
Sun:
40K TT on the bike
Actually Dkidd, I'm feeling as though my training is right in track, comparatively speaking, with the uber-studs training for the IM distances! At first I was feeling intimidated but I just now kinda realized that I'm on track to meet my goals the way PoC, BBB and others are focused on meeting their's. It's all good.
Fri -- Did my first race-length brick -- 30K bike/5K run
Sat -- 1000yd swim (250 more than is needed in my first tri in August)
Sun -- Ran 9mi, and threw in an hour of tennis for good measure (more for the October marathon than the sprint tris)

I rested on Saturday and had my first race(ever) on Sunday. It was a sprint with a 750m swim, a 500m uphill run to T1, a 20k bike and a 5k run. I was 3rd out of the water(4th to T1), won my age group, and was 12th overall. Gotta work on my running though, 8:35 isn't really a pace to write home about...I'll post a real race report when I have a few minutes...
Oh yeah, and I'm hooked. Bad.
Jason

Shooting Star Adventures - SVS 2 at Joseph D Grant Park. Holy cow, what a great race. If anyone is considering getting started in Adventure Racing, these are great races to come out and try your hand at.
Excellent nav set-up, challenging courses that will test ANY athlete out there.
Randy and I raced together and finished in 9 hours and 30 minutes. We had some technical difficulty as Randy's front wheel taco'ed on a descent, but he was fine, a little scratched up, but was in good shape. And despite better judgement to take the race director's truck back to the finish because of the bike's lack of ride-ability, we headed back on our own power, with Randy carrying his mountain bike down the mountain for the last 6 miles.
What a great race. Will provide a more in depth race report later.
20 mile run and a 90 mile hilly bike ride...fun fun :)

What a fantastic clear sunny great Sat. and Sun. we have here in beautiful BC lower mainland! I just love it.
Sat. 09: Went for a long ride with vanjames to Univ. of BC and up Cypress Mtn., both of us panting our hearts out (151kms). It's so nice to have someone to endure the pain with. Man was it cold up top , both of us froze on the descent. This was followed by a quick 5km brick to punish the legs a bit after the ride hehe.
Sun 10: Run 35km (3:30hrs. slow) with the headphones on along the dyke (fall asleep), followed by rest and a 3800m swim late afternoon, then watch the Tour and eat, eat, eat ,followed by SLEEP!!!!
48 days to go!!
