Check it. Found a nifty new product that really works well. It's call the Sipaway. I saw it at expo after a race. Simple design but long over due. I picked one up for $25 and it's great! I thought I'd spread the love. One bad thing is you can't refill it while riding but considering it definitely useful in shorter races. AND NO SPLASHING ME WITH SPORTS DRINKS!!!!!!! Let me know what your little new products or secrets are. Thanks

Oh duh the web address is sipaway.com

Here are a couple of other options, and they are all refillable.

Never reach

Aerodrink

Podium Quest Hydration system
http://www.podiumquest.com/

I have tried all three. I just started using the PQ this year and it is pretty good.

2 questions about the Sipaway:

1) With the bottle a couple feet below your mouth, is there a problem with the flow?
2) Don't you end up sucking a lot of hot fluid (long tube)?

The Profile Design system looks more practical - I have one, but need to move my computer out of the way first. I've been piling on the mileage, and find I usually don't even empty 1 bottle (although I carry 2) on rides up to 30 miles.

I liked the profile design but when it was hot or I was on really long rides I felt it didn't hold enough.

The Never Reach was pretty good when I did a 1/2 Iron on a very warm day last year.
It holds 64 oz, almost 3 bike bottles. The tube from the back of the bike runs up to the handle bars so the first couple of sips can be warm. Reaching back to refill can be a little dicey since it is behind you.

I have been using the Podium Quest for a few rides and it seems to work pretty good.
It is about 2 bike bottles of liquid. It is easy to refill because it is right in front of you like the
Profile design system.

Here's my take on the Sipaway....
1. No problem with flow. It has a valve on it so once you draw the fluid to the top of the straw, it sits right there.
2. yes but I find if I have enough ice it stays cool. I find I take smaller drinks more often with Sipaway. this keeps the fluid in th tube moving an cool.

Much better than getting splashed with my Profile design. Gatorade "Sticky" is a nasty feeling.

One of the main things I love about my PD is that it IS refillable, more versatile. Down here in this heat, i tend to drink 1 bottle every 15 minutes. The only time I reall experience splash is if it's FULL and I hit a big bump. The only improvement I think could be made to the PD is a top like that on on the PQ. I know the fluids in my camelback tube get REALLY hot sometimes... Nice to see someone else tinkering with hydration ystems, tho. Perhaps some kind of refill port on the cap would give it a broader base of customers...

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

How in the world do you change the bottles quickly with the Sipaway? Does the top just "pop" on and off or does it have threads? I've seen the never reach before, ok, I guess.

I have never used any of the above systems. I worry about having all the plastic tubing and such. If something goes wrong with any part of the system your out fluid.

It looks like it uses a standard sized screw-cap. If you can find or make a taller bottle.....

Or do-it-you-selfers could attach a tube to the bottom of two bottles, and put them in the 2 cages (too much of a hassle).

nah, You can't refill on the fly ( or I should say you'd have to be a magician to do so) It's a standard 28 oz bottle with a threaded cap. It fit on my other wide mouth bottles. Finding the right valve would be the only problem with making on your.

The sytsem might be good for short rides.

Once you go for longer rides a system that is larger or refillable will be more important.

Something to think about if you know you are going to have to trian longer.

looks like to much of a pain for a one bottle and your out solution. If it was refilable then maybe

The Profile Design Aerodrink worked well for me AFTER I modified it slightly. Take the "yellow fishnet" wad that is supposed to function as a "pour thru" top, and give it to your dog to play with. Then go to AutoZone and buy a big thick carwash sponge. Turn the aerodrink bottle upside down and trace around the top with
a magic marker so you will have an idea of how to cut the sponge "plug". Then cut the sponge a bit bigger, so it fits into the aerodrink bottle "snuggly" and will not allow fluid to leak or splash out, BUT it can be easily removed with one hand and held while re-filling the bottle with your free hand. I also removed the flimsy velcro strap, after it came loose and dumped my aerobottle onto the ground while running out of T1 with my bike. I replaced it with a large black "Zip-tie",
the kind that can be loosened and removed, so it is infinitely reuseable. This holds the bottle
MUCH firmer, than flimsy straps or rubber bands.

I like your idea, but I will use the yellow net stuff to scrub the dishes.
I don't want the dog to choke on it.

i like coming up for a breath of air and a drink ... i know popping up like a ground hog breaks the aero jet like supersonic aerodynamics but its nice to stretch the back out ... maybe even take a hit of peanut butter.

here is another product.

oasisone-twelve.com

works with dual 30 oz bottles or single 30oz. for about the same price

i have used on my last 6 IM races. works great. I am not ha heavy sweater so i have not had to refill during any race. some times i grab water aid stations to conserve my sepcial fluid mixture or to shower the water over my head to keep cool..

I got a new Carbon Stryke bar in my bike and the Profile Design Aerodrink bottle that I purchased with another bar I used to have.
But my problem is that I couldn't fix the Aerodrink bottle in my new bar. There isn't enough space for it.
Anyone have an idea of how to fix it or maybe a picture that show me how I could do that?
Thank you
