Yea! Tour de France starts on Saturday, July 2nd! This is the time when I spend equal amounts of time on the computer (reading about the tour), in front of the tele (watching the tour) & on my bike (riding my own tour ;) ). My parents have a DVR so I'm having them record all of it this year. Can't wait!!

I wonder if Lance will win for a 7th straight time? He says he feels the best he's ever felt. He's also got a pretty stacked team. I'm surprised Jose Azevedo stuck around for another year since he's not the main man. That's pretty cool though. Although, I wonder who will be the leading man next year. George Hincappie?? Jose?? Next year is next year. This year should be pretty exciting as anything can happen.

It should be incredible this year.

The media coverage has been improving over the last few years.

This year is so hyped!!! Can't wait.

Lance is my (as well as everybody else's) favourite :)
But : everybody loves a good fight in stead of a monotonous Tour-display with Lance overtaking the pack. I think (and hope) that Lance's immediate competition (Ullrich in front) is as strong as the press has covered.
Here you find most of the on-line info ...

just saw the route on that website, it looks awesome, other than the yellow jacket and lance armstrong being gosu, i dont know anything about cycling, how long does it take them to do it? and do they complete each section then start the next the equivalent amount of time later than they finished the first one, for example some dude finishes 5 minutes behind lance, so on the second stage he starts 5 minutes behind him?

What does gosu mean?

Nope, they all start at the same time each day, except on time trial days. The first week is just everyone kind of going through the motions. The lead guys will make sure they are all keeping up with eachother that first week in order to not get behind. The second week is usually when they get into the mountains and this is when the real race begins. Everything is timed obviously and if one is ahead by 32 seconds from their nearest competitor and in the lead, then they work hard to make sure that their nearest competitor doesn't over take their time margin.

Just watch this season and as it unfolds it will all start to make sense.

Hopefully someone on the Discovery team will be able to step up in the absents of Vyacheslav Ekimov.

From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gosu

In Korean, gosu (lit. a high hand) is used to refer a person with great skill, usually in martial arts or in baduk. Currently on the internet, gosu often refers to a good player or item in computer games, such as StarCraft, Diablo II, Lineage, and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.

The word comes from the Mandarin Chinese term gao shou (also 高手), which also literally means high hand. A gao shou is someone with a large amount of skill.

It has been thought that gosu originated as an acronym for "God Of Starcraft Universe", however this origin is highly unlikely as the term is also applied to games outside of SC.- (Diablo II, WC, etc.)

There are also commonly used korean words for "a quite good player" (hasu) and "a bad player"

Scott - you are a silly googler. ;)

James - that sucks. He's pretty old for still being in the Tour. I'd say ride anyway, but with his spine fracture, you don't want to mess with that. Bummer. Thanks for the info. :(

Lance is great no doubt. Keep an eye on George H. as well. A CLASSIC rider. Lance's run will be a lot easier if George can do his thing. Plus, dig his white sunglasses.
