Recovery Run?
My hard runs are Tuesdays and Fridays, other runs are Wed. and Sat. I def. feel better after a recovery run. My normal Tuesday workout ranges from long medium speed to medium hard, Wed. is a aquajog with 15 warmup and cool down, and 6x 100 yard strides. Sat. is a brick with a 20 minute run ending with strides. I find the strides to be GREATLY beneficial in regards to speed and flow.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I train 6 days in a row, 1 day off, 3 days of recovery, 1 day off. on the 6 and 3 days of training its swim bike run in a pattern with on the 6 days together, the first run is a base building 30-45 minutes, and the 2nd run day is a distance. Both of them I push hard on but the swim the day after does wonders for relieving stiff muscles. Also the day break after the hard long distance run gives me the chance to recoup before doing a milder recovery run of 20-30 minutes. I have been prone to injury so I have enjoyed this different approach rather then running every day. It seems rotating the exercises has made a huge impact on next day soreness and how much I can do in a week. I got my workout from ontri.com as a first timer set to do my first one in about two years on Aug 14th. It so far has been very enjoyable, it pushes me but works me in a way that keeps me interested and injury free. I think that is all I can ask.
Thanks guys, the info helps, run is one of my better legs of the race but since I had surgery just working my way back!

I have read alot recently about recovery runs. I am new to this whole scientific training thing! But as I get older I appreciate the technical goal setting organization type stuff a bit more!
I usually take a day off running if I have a particularly hard day before should I do that?
Or should I do a recovery run? I usually do a short medium and longer run during the week and have a hard time slowing the pace down much! I have a bit of natural running ability but as I get older I want to train smarter, anyways any serious runners help!
