I'm looking at making the big tri bike purchase (yea), and I heard some info about the Valdora AC-Tri bike. Has anyone heard anything or have any more info on if this is a good bike to go with??

I'll second the Felt vote - I ride the S25 tri bike, I paid a hair under 1500 for it and added Shimano pedals. I absolutely love it. It was by far the most bang for my buck at that price.

The S32 is also a nice bike that I would have looked at if I hadn't gotten a deal on the S25.

Thanks for the input, those are the other 2 bikes that I am looking at. The Valdora is from a local Phoenix company that I heard about at the Tribe store. Buying local is always a good thing :)

What a small world - I bought the S25 at Tribe about 6 weeks ago - Kevin and the boys are a wonderful resource over there. Good luck with the purchase, I know that it kept me up nights for about a week before I pulled the trigger - too many options.

Like with a home, though, just try to reach as high as you can budget-wise so that you don't outgrow it too quickly and end up kicking yourself because you "settled" for a lower-end bike. At the price we're talking, the difference between 1200 and 1500 is only 300 - probably an amount that you could save in a month or so, but the difference in componentry is huge for that money, so I'd wait it out if you can and make sure that you're maximizing your purchase.

Also, look at last year's models. That is a fantastic way to save a ton of money.

Kevin is the man, he fit me on my Felt 75 four years ago and ive never had any problems. Hey if you are ever looking for a bike ride partner I think were neighbors :)

I do the bulk of my rides in the Ahwatukee foothills during the week around 11:00 am - if you're in the area, I'm always up for that. To be honest, I just started cycling this year, so I haven't been able to get in any group rides at all, but want to.

Having a 2 year old at home and wife makes a free flowing schedule almost impossible, that's why my schedule is more or less set, but if you can swing those hours ever, drop me an email.

I just noticed that you two are from Phoenix. I am further south in Seirra Vista. Do either of you know any good bike shops in Tucson or closer? We have two here, they seem to be about the same in price and gear. I am looking for a road bike in the near future. I have been riding a mountain bike for a few years. I also did my first tri on 23 July 05. I dont think I have ever had as much fun. I cant wait until the nest one which is 27 Aug 05.
Does anyone know anything about the tri that is being held at Rocky Point, Mexico?

Traveller -

Ha ha - I just read this thread again. That's pretty funny - at least we got our group ride in, eh?

It was good meeting you and the others this weekend - I'll have to get out to a few more of those.

Hey Troy! Great meeting you as well. We've got another ride going again on saturday at 7am. Hope to see you there. And for the record, definately glad I went w/ the Valdora :)
