HR question.
I would say its relative to the incline and your pace. Your heart should not boost creep that much if your maintaing the same pace and degree of incline.
Lizzardman,
My HR always jumps before a race, as the weight comes off, and you get in better shape, your HR will come down.
Just work on running the 3-4 miles, and you'll soon see your HR dropping.
My wife when she started running last year, couldn't run one hill without her HR getting over 170. Now, she flies up the same hill, and her HR is in the 130's for the same incline. Now, the only time her HR is over 160 is during speedwork or racing.
BTW: We're both 46, so our max should be in the 175 range.

It will definatley improve with time and training.
Right now you can expect to have a higher heart rate because of the shape you're in.
With consistent training you will reach all your goals and your heart rate will come down.
Good Luck!

Hello to all, a quick queation. I,m 33 and just started to train. I am 20 30 pounds over weight. My resting HR is 58 to 64. When I know I'm going to run my HR goes to 85-90 ( even before I start), nerve I guess. Not real sure what that"s about, anyway for the first mile to mile 1/2 my hr is 140-150.after that 165 185. four miles is about all I can do right now. My question is this. Is this a normal heart beat range or is it high because I'm out of shape, and will it improve.
Thanks for the help. :)
