Hello everyone,

This is my first post and my introduction. My name is Joey I live in Frisco Texas and am training for an Ironman. I am 24 years of age. I did my first triathlon on May 1 this year. It was a sprint Tri. 400 meters swim 30k bike and 5k run. From that race I was addicted. I placed first in my age group and came in 48th place over all out of 500 or so. Two weeks later I was in Louisiana racing in an Xterra off road triathlon. I placed 2nd in my age group in that one. I must say i do not prefer the offroad biking in comparison to road biking. Regardless I have set a goal to compete in an Ironman event. I have a half Ironman on Sept 11 of this year that I am currently training for. I am originally a runner. Biking is secondary and swimming is my weakness that i use power as opposed to form to get through . My new years goal this year was to complete a marathon. Prior to my passion for triathlon races I mainly focused on running weight lifting and indoor rock climbing. The marathon distance was the end all be all distance and challenge that a human could endure. All that has changed now . I think i will feel a great sense of accomplishment when i complete my first Ironman and hope that it will not be the last. I am very disciplined in my training and am very dedicated to achieving my dream. I am racing to become a stronger person physically and mentally. The glory of crossing any finish line is a feeling that last a long time. All of my races (mainly running ) have taught me plenty and showed me areas i need to work on and made me reflect on how well the training has paid off. I have a dream and its good to be in a place where others share the same dream.

Good luck to us all

sweet, congrats on finding a passion in Triathlons and endurance sports in general. Good to have you on board. You seem very in tune with your training and the lifestyle benefits associated with it, I look forward to hearing more of your training and racing this year.
