Yoga or other ...

I've come across some people on this forum talking about how yoga helped them in some way : being more relaxed (in general), feeling fitter, having better control over breathing (big plus in swimming!), more able to concentrate before the race, etc.

My grilfriend has taken up yoga as well (beginner's class), and she too feels a difference in concentration and physical awareness ...
Since I want to try just about anything to improve my performances, would this be a good addition outside training? I do not really doubt all of this (very interested in that whole Oriental-thing), but the classes that are given here are relatively expensive ...
Are there any people here who are regular visiters to a yoga-centre? Is it worth while? Any effects long-term that you couldn't have imagined after the few first classes?

And now I think about it : what's the deal with the Pilates-thing or the PowerYoga : any pro's/con's?
Many thanks for info ... :D

my favorite and i think the most beneficial would be Bikram Yoga. That is where they heat the room to 100 degrees. The other type is Ashtanga Yoga. That is like power yoga and uses lots of upper body strength. I usually do yoga in the off season. Yoga sis help me become a better swimmer ... by far as it taught me to stretch my arms and shoulders.
