Do I finish tomorrow? plantar fasciatis???
Don't mess with the foot. I ran through PF for about a day and then was out for a few months. Rub goldballs under your foot and rest it. Really, not a fun injury (as if any are).

I second the night splint. I generally sleep on my stomach and since my first pf injury i've gotten in teh habit of sleeping wiht my toes over the edge so that I don't tighten my calf (if that makes any sense)

You are the final judge of your body.
Start the run and see how it goes.
You won' t damage yourself by hobbling five kilometres,
unless you sprint or jump
and I doubt you will do that.
If it hurts too much for you to handle, you can quit.
But if you finish and conquer this you will be very proud of yourself.
You will make a complete recovery if you follow the treatment suggested.
I think half of all serious athletes, whatever the sport will experience PF in their lives.
I have had it twice. It's no big deal.
I say try it. Don't give up on yourself before the race has even started.
best of luck

to provide an update:
so I was concerned that I might run to a point of over injury today and didn't bring my running shoes to ensure that I didn't. I'm primarily a rock climber and I have a tendency to keep going when I get injured and then make it worse. Bad excuse, I know.
My swim felt dreadful, but I came in a minute under what I expected.
Bike was exactly what I expected.
I wished that I had brought my shoes and just finished, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it.
going from sprint to olympic was really intimidating to me, but now I feel confident enough to not punk out in the future.

I have done one sprint and signed up for my first olympic (tomorrow). I've ben really busy with work and have not done enough training to be finish with a time that I would be happy with. I also just found out that I have that plantar fasciatisisadfkjsdf stuff (this is more the excuse than the reason for quitting, I fully accept that I have been a slack ass on training)
I decided that instead of pulling out, I would do the swim and the bike and treat it like a training day. I'm now entertaining the idea of finishing and accepting the fact that I will die on the run (my least favorite part) BUT I know very little about this plantar fasciatis thing. From my limited internet research, it seems like I should stretch my feet out and take time off from running.
If I run tomorrow, am I risking injuring my foot worse in a way that would put me further back from training for other races this season or should I quit being whiner and finish jogging/walking/crawling/throwing up by any means necessary?
