Hey guys, I received this email from one of our local YMCA's that is very involved in triathlon training for adults and kids. I don't know how many of you out there have kids, but I'm sure you'll agree with the email. Anyway, if you're interested, drop them a line at ironkids.com.
"Hello friends.* I have just found out that IronKids Triathlon is in jeopardy of*being canceled*due to Sara Lee/IronKids Bread possibly dropping their sponsorship.* As I know you all agree, swimming, cycling and running are lifetime sports and can be done from ages 5-100.* If we set kids up with these skills at an early age, we can give them the gift of a life time of health & fitness.* Sara Lee dropping out would have a huge impact on youth triathlon.* Just the loss of this race alone would impact thousands - but also send a negative community message.* With youth obesity in our headlines - we can't afford to lose anything that supports youth fitness.* If you feel inclined, please voice your support to Sara Lee to continue this race series.* You can reach them through the ironkids website - "contact us" or write them at:
Sara Lee Bakery Group Consumer Affairs
4649 LeBourget Drive
St. Louis,MO*63134
Please forward this to anyone you know who might be willing to do the same.* The more they hear how important it is - the louder our voice will be.* Thanks!"
My kids started racing this year and love it, but it's not as much fun if you don't have something to train for.
