You might want a racing type of geometry... they'll be lighter, more aero, and handle better for the same price...
I'd go for some version of the Allez if you want a Specialized. There you get a bike with more of an entry level racing geometry for the same price as the sirrus... Others in the prices range are the trek, Fuji, lemond, canondale, giant, etc...
Go to wheelworks and they'll get you all fitted and set up properly...
