Our family is off to Scottsdale from the 14th-21st and yes, I am bringing my bike. We are staying in the Camelback area and am inquiring as to if anyone has any good bike route ideas, anywhere from 2 - 3 hours or 4 - 6.

Thanks!

Trevor

I don't actually know AZ too well, but you might want to look at the IM AZ course (either the final 3 lap one or the original 2 lap which took the long out and back of the final course and just went farther) and perhaps ride some along that road. It seemed like a decent ride when I did it...

Well since I live in that area :) there are some great loops you can do. If you are in the Camelback area say around 64th st and Lincoln, there is a great bike lane that you can pretty much take south to the Phoenix Zoo. Or you can take it north around Camelback Mtn and up through Paradise Valley and North Phoenix. If you want to head north, you can take the bike lane via Cave Creek Road as well. Hope this gets you started and bring your swim trunks and sunscreen because its been beautiful here!

Cool. We are staying at 6302 E. Camelback Road. I found the Cactus pool on the internet so I know I will be blasting some good distance off there. Are the bike lanes pretty good, free from unusual sized rocks and debris?

Thx

yeah the roads are generally pretty good just keep your eyes out for thorns :). Cactus pool is great, their open lap swim opens at 6pm and I would get there at 6pm or a few mins before because it tends to get crowded (its $2 to go). You can also check out the city of scottsdale website and they can actually mail you a map of the bike lanes.

Great. Unfortunately won't get the map in time as we start driving tomorrow afternoon (1800 miles...). I will tell the folks at the resort to get it for me. Is there a good LBS around where I can pick up any supplies (CO2, Powergel, GU, gear)?

Thanks for all the help.

Bicycle Showcase (South East Corner of Scottsdale Rd and Shea Blvd)
REI ( Near Paradise Valley Mall- Cactus Rd and Tatum Blvd area) they have all the nutrition stuff and bike extras though a little pricey at times)
Landis Cyclery ( South East Corner of Scottsdale and Shea- in same complex as Bicycle Showcase, also there is a shop in South Tempe that is AWESOME. A bit of a drive but they have more tri gear available)

The closest to you might actually be Tribe Multisport oin S. Scottsdale.

They are North of McDowell on Scottsdale next to the L.A. Fitness. Tri-specific store w/ all the trimmings.
