Headphones are banned for safety and liability concerns. One reason I dont run with them, I dont wanna get used to having them. A GOOD beginner 5k time is ~20 minutes. A SOLID time is ~18min. Swims, just get to be comfortable and come out of the water feeling warmed up, not tired. I wouldnt worry about time there too much. Ride; 22 mile ride with sprint distance swims and runs? sure about that?
That said, if you have never run before, take those times with a grain of salt. Take your times and improve them, and you're doing great.
I wouldnt aim to be competitive in your first season, instead be competitive with yourself and aim to steadily improve.
I have seen a couple of comments about headphones on this site. Are headphones during triathlons illegal. I don't understand why this is the case. Could someone point me in the right direction to find out the rules for triathlons. Thanks
Could someone tell me what a good beginner time for a .25 mile swim, 22 mile bike, and a 3.2 mile run would be. I am 5'10" and weigh 250 lbs. I ran my 1st 5K today in 26:14, is this good or average for a beginner? Please help, I really have nobody to talk to about these things.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
