Steadiness with Speedplay pedals
You will get used to pushing down straighter. I use speedplays too and love them. Are you using the zero's or the x's? If you have the zero's like me you can limit the float if its not comfortable.
Thanks Cat!
I have the X series...
Do you have any technique suggestions that can help me to push down straighter? I got used to them this winter on my indoor trainer, but now that I am outside this issue has shown up.
As a runner, I really do like the additional float.
Do you remember how long it took you to adapt to them?
Hey - I've been a Speedplay user since 1996 (still ride on ti X-1s) and they ARE less stable while climbing. I've also ridden Look and recently purchased a pair of Shimano DuraAce pedals. Huge difference. What do you want? Float with no stability or a little less float with a rock solid foot/shoe/pedal interface? You have choices.
I have a friend who rides on x's and he is a very very good climber and sprinter... so i guess its just personal preference...

I am using Speedplay pedals (my first time using clipless)...I really like them! But I am having a problem when I am out of the saddle...standing on them...There is a "shakiness" to my bike. I know it is partially a strength/balance issue, but I never experienced this before. Is it the additional float with the Speedplays? Is it just a matter of me getting used to them?
Any input will be greatly appreciated!
