post workout i usually try to choose foods/fluids that offer carbohydrate for fuel and some protein for repair. everything i have read about endurance training states that we have a 15-30 minute window to quick reload our glycogen stores immediately following exercise. that seems to be the best time to pump the carbs to refuel for the next workout. sometimes it's hard to eat right after exercise, because you have no appetite and the first thing you want to do is hit the shower.

lately, i've gotten really addicted to this FUSE drink... lots of carbs and anti-oxidants plus the white tea gives me a lift. yummy! i like a good PB& J on whole wheat bread and a container of vanilla yogurt... that does the trick for me.

Like Amy said, re-fuel your muscles with carbs within a half hour of your work-out. 25 percent protein is said to be the optimum mixture.

It's usually tough to fit in a meal in that time-frame, so I usually have something to drink (fruit punch, lemonade, soda --- something sugary), fruit (banana and maybe an apple), and a home-made energy/carbo bar.

A blender or juicer comes in handy for a quick meal-in-a-glass, too.

Good advice. I usually try to get a carb-protein shake (2 parts Ultra Fuel, 1 part whey protein) in immediately after a workout to take advantage of that 15-30 minute window for muscle repair and glycogen replacement.

Then within an hour or two try to get something more substantial to keep me going. Usually go for another good mix of protein and carbs. Something like a turkey sandwich on high-fiber bread.
