Hi, new member to the boards from the DC Metro by way of many other places courtesy the US Army.

My calendar next year is centered on the Florida Great Escape Triathlon in March and the White Lake Half-Ironman (North Carolina) in May with the fall focused on an ultra trail run as of yet to be determined.

Look forward to joining in discussions here.

Brad ~ Welcome! There's plenty of dc-area folks on this site. In addition, check out the DC Tri Club -- a very very active group of folks including some ultrarunners in the bunch.

oh, and go Navy, beat Army! :-)

In Southern California... by a ghost town! (http://www.calicotrailrun.org/)

Is it bad that I'm eager to see how much it hurts? ;)

What is your tri background?

my tri background is mostly sprint with a few international distance races. my last few seasons have been sporadic due to work and i haven't done any tris in over 18 months but i have a pretty good base from everything else i do especially running. i have done a lot of trail racing in europe and a fair number of tris there as well (germany).

i decided to knock out a HIM this may just to do it.

Yeah it must be tough to keep up anything on a regular basis with your job. Running in those places must be a crazy experience -- I love finding my connection to places by going for a run there. Just gives a different feeling for a place.

Definitely a half IM goal will help you get there -- and you'll be fine, and we're here to chat with on your way :)

the good thing is that my job is very fitness friendly, even compulsory you could say! right now i'm able to do two a days almost everyday. the pentagon pool is great, the gym is good, and running the national capital is always interesting...
