Achilles Tendon Rupture
Dare I ask how you managed to pull off this injury?
Damn, how did this happen?
My brother in law is recovering from having his achilles re-attached. All I can tell you is that it takes a long, long time and you can't push it. So sorry - what a bummer.

The last thing that you want to do is to do is to try to rush back at all. From what I understand, it is very easy to reinjure if you rush back at all. Bummer of an injury, I hope everything is progressing well.
Hoped all goes well and a speedy recovery
I injured it playing basketball. There was absolutely no warning and I didn't step on anybody's foot, it happened when I started to run from a dead stop.
I have asked the doc when I can get in the pool and start swimming, even if it was just with the pool bouy, it will be six weeks.
Thanks for all of the advice. I'll keep you updated on the progress.
Be very careful with this...it can be a career ender.
I worked with a guy for years who "used to be a triathlete."
He'd have a great tri season then finish it off with a hammer of Marine Corps Marathon. One year he ruptured his tendon. The next year he did the same thing again on the other leg. He never did his rehab right kept reinjuring himself and now he has two permanant bumps in his ankle along with all kinds of metal and spends his days drinking beer.
He is not a happy man.
Oh, and stay away from ball sports...they will trash you faster than a 100 mile run! ;)

Like Anton said, be careful with this. It is typically a hard one to recover from. Of course take what I say with a grain of salt as I don't know when to stop running through pain ( see my previous post on my ITB issues). But seriously, that is a rough one (was an Athletic Trainer in a anothter life). Do all your therapy and take it slow.
Good luck and hope you feel better.

Has anyone gone through this painfully slow process of recovery?
