I'm looking at getting a new helmet, but I'm not sure which, or what color.

I'd like to get the advantage, but I can't tell what color the blue one is, and my LBS doesn't have the blue ones in stock.

I'm seeing them as bluer blue:

And a bit more cyan

I'm just being picky, but wondered if anyone has one of these, and clear this up for me.

Also, does anyone know what the difference is between the advantage and the advantage 2?

Keep in mind that you can get your helmet painted or add custom decals, etc so just pick the one that fits best and has the features you like. Then "fix" the look of the helmet if necessary.

Those look like 2 different sets of white graphics. If I'm not mistaken, the top one is an original Giro Advantage (not an Advantage 2). That helmet is not race legal in the US, because it never got CPSC certification. Don't buy it if you want to race here.

The lower pic is definitely the 2007 model, which was never shipped to the U.S -- you can see it here: http://www.all3sports.com/product_info.php?pName=giro-advantage-2-2007.

The 2008 blue looks very different from those two. It has a lot of black in it: http://www.trisports.com/giroadvantage2.html

The 2008 one is the one I've seen in the store, which I can't say I liked very much. I'll keep my open for a 2007 model. Thanks PJT.

I also didn't think about painting a helmet. Are there shops that specialize in this, or is it a DIY type of thing?

K followup.

I found this awesome airbrush place on my way home from work, so when I get my helmet, I want to airbrush like an eagle and a warrior or something. Like a Conan kind of thing with an eagle holding a head, and a warrior with a huge sword, and a bicycle.

What do you guys think?

They also do leather and cars and whatever else you would need to get airbrushed once you found out it was possible.

i got the white/silver helmet. It is more neutral and goes with everything. My roadie helmet is also silvery/white. My cervelo P2C is blue/black and my tri-team unfiorm is red/black/white (i should've waited a year to buy the P2C and got red/white/black scheme).

Painting helmets is something i think you would want to have a professional shop do. I'm afraid that an aerosol spray paint (like a color from Home Depot or Lowes) might not work well with the helmet and possibly weaken the outer shell.
