My podiatrist pretty much told me to stop wearing my running shoes on the bike, so I listened to him and go some shoes.

Anyone else use any of the Pearl Izumi shoes?
I bought the Tri R3 shoes. They fit very nicely and are easy to get on and off.
They may not be the perfect touring shoes but I love how they fit.
I got them at the lbs, so I paid a bit more, but was able to try a bunch on.

Like these but with red, in place of blue.

Now, onto pedals....

I'd suggest Looks as well. I've used a few different models over the years and have never had a problem.

I am probably in the minority of people, but I like the Crank Brothers egg beater style of pedals. I use Crank Brothers Quattro pedals on my bikes and love them.

I'm a fan of SPEEDPLAY pedals. If you have any knee issues the Speedplay pedal have alot more float than any other pedal so you can move your foot around to change angle on your knee.

You can't go wrong with Looks or Speedplays.

Look makes nice pedals, but stay away from the low end cheper composites. They have a reputation for breaking.

Speedplays are great if you have knee issues, or not. love or hate em. As an aside, the two lost shoes I've seen heading into T2 were off Speedplay cleats.

I prefer Shimano's Ultrega SPD-SLs- adjustable tension, metal body, low stack height, favorable price.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

i'm a look keo fan - I like the big flat surface that my shoe meets on the Look pedal..

I just receive my classic through the mail. It's true I have heard some failure among the low end of Keo. But I think for the price, it is still worth trying them first. look for review on roadbikereview.com (or something like that)
